Lifelong Partnership: From your first boat to your next, we’re here for every launch, every tune-up, and every new chapter.
Wayzata Marine began in 1967 as Wayzata Lake and Lawn, a local shop founded by Gary and Darlene Briggs offering boats and outdoor equipment. As demand grew, the business pivoted entirely to marine sales and service, and officially became Wayzata Marine in 1982.
Following Darlene’s passing in 1986, the Darlene Briggs Award was established to honor her pioneering spirit within the marine industry. That same year, the company added Chris Craft to its lineup—one of many key partnerships that shaped our growth.
Dave Briggs, who made his first boat sale at age 13, took over as General Manager in 1994 and became owner with his wife Dava in 2001. Under their leadership, we’ve expanded our offerings with brands like Chaparral, Regal, Barletta, and Robalo—and earned consistent national recognition, including Boating Industry’s Top 100 Dealers list every year since 2006.
Today, we operate from a waterfront location on Lake Minnetonka, with a dedicated team of passionate marine professionals—still driven by the same purpose that started it all.
